High tops used to be the preserve of basketball players, but they have become equally suited to wearing on the street or chilling at home. In this blog, we’re going to look at some of the best new high-tops that have come on the market recently.
Reebok Alien Stompers
These Reebok designs were first seen in the 1986 film Aliens, where they were worn a futuristic pair of kicks by Sigourney Weaver’s character Ripley. Since then there have been various reissues of the original grey coloured, which have become highly prized amongst trainer collectors. The latest versions are inspired by the power loader Ripley uses and the Xenomorph Alien itself. The Power Loader inspired trainers are yellow and black all leather upper shoes. The Xenomorph inspired shoes are black patent leather uppers with solar green coloured soles. These are a must for any big fan of the Alien films.
Nike Vandal High Supreme
The Nike Vandal was first released in 1984 and made its way very quickly from the basketball courts to the street. These fabric upper shoes offer comfort and breathability with an ankle strap for a customised support fit. These versions are described as having a bright ceramic and white colourway. If you’re a fan of the Back to the Future film series you may have noticed that Doc Brown is wearing them in Back to the Future Part II. If you want to channel the Doc Brown look ten these are definitely the trainers for you.
Adidas Forum Mid
Introduced in 1986, the Forum quickly became a favourite of NBA players with Patrick Ewing and Danny Ferry wearing them on the court. If you’re a fan of 1980s films you might recognise them from Bill and Ted’s Excellent Adventure. With their full leather uppers, BOUNCE cushioning, adjustable strap and mid cut, these classics ooze style. Available in a White and Collegiate Royal colourway, you’ll be able to get the classic 80s court look.
Nike LeBron 15
LeBron James is in the top ten players of all time in the NBA and has won three NBA championships. This might not put him up there with the greatest of all time, but in the modern era, there are few players as formidable. His signature shoe fuses a mixture of new technologies to create a basketball shoe with unrivalled comfort and functionality. The Battleknit upper is stretchy and offers support and ultra-lightweight flexibility. The foam midsole features Nike Zoom Air and Max Air cushioning. The seamless fit is designed to fit like a sock, provide support for your ankle and lets you take the shoe on and off easily.
